The Citadel
In 1842 The Citadel was home to the South Carolina Military Academy. It closed in 1865 after Union troops entered Charleston, reopening in 1882. Outgrowing the old campus, The Citadel moved to its new home on the Ashley River in 1918.

Marion Square
The parade grounds at the old Citadel at Marion Square in Charleston. In 1829 an arsenal and guard house were constructed here, and in 1842 it became home to the South Carolina Military Academy.
